We’re living in dangerous days! No doubt that our generation is experiencing the birth pangs of the tribulation time that Jesus said would precede His return to earth (Matthew 24). During that time of great judgment, Satan will unleash perhaps his greatest onslaught of killing, stealing, and destroying ever (Revelation 12:12)! God has given us everything we need to live successfully in this hour! Jesus Christ has provided a redemption of which the benefits far exceed the effects of Adam’s fall!
When Jesus said, “All authority has been given unto me in heaven and in earth,” and then said, “go ye therefore.”(Matthew 28:18-20), He literally gave us His own authority to deal with Satan, our enemy and every act of stealing, killing, and destroying that he would unleash against the body of Christ.
Authority is delegated power. A person’s authority exceeds his personal strength! The police officer directing traffic in the middle of the street is wearing a badge on his uniform that puts the power of the government supporting that badge behind the hand that he holds up! A large truck could easily crush him in the middle of the busy street, but because the driver understands the power of the badge, he quickly yields his will and submits the power of his large vehicle to the authority of the badge!
As a believer, you have been given the authority of the kingdom of heaven; the actual authority that Jesus has over Satan to deal with him and his onslaughts in your life! God knew that you needed a weapon of defense and offence when He redeemed you and left you in a fallen world with a malevolent enemy that seeks to harm you and your family. This authority enables you to send Satan on the run before he harms your family.
Let’s examine this authority for just a moment. Remember that God gave the first man Adam, authority over the earth and its fullness when he was created (See Genesis 1:26-28). Psalm 8:4-6 reveals that God made man just a bit lower than Himself and gave man His authority over the world. In quoting this verse, the author of Hebrews reveals that this authority has been stopped and that now the earth is not under man’s control. (Hebrews 2:6-8)
Satan mentioned that the authority of the kingdoms of the world were delivered to him and that he could give that authority to Jesus if He would bow down to him (See Luke 4:4-6). This was a legitimate temptation. And, of course, Jesus
When Adam sinned, he broke fellowship with God and the entire human race. He also gave away the authority that God originally gave to him at creation. Jesus knew that He would legally reclaim the lost authority of man in His death and resurrection!
Colossians 2:15 reveals that Jesus “.disarmed principalities and powers, making a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it (the cross).” Of what did he disarm them, you may ask. Jesus disarmed them of the authority they received from Adam when he sinned, and then He gave that authority back to the church!
When Jesus was raised from the dead, He was seated beside the Father “far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head\\ over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all” (Ephesians 1:21-23).
In the light of Jesus’ position in heaven, God “raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus” (Ephesians 2:6)! What that means is that we share the very authority that Jesus has over Satanic forces seeking to harm us! Look at it this way; Jesus didn’t defeat the devil for Himself, He already had authority over him (See Luke 10:17-19) He defeated Satan as a man (“the second Adam, or the Last Adam, 1 Corinthians 15:45,47) representing the human race so that we too could exercise authority over our adversary who “walks about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8-9).
Christians have access to the “badge” of authority in the use of the name of Jesus! Jesus has given us the unqualified use of His name in His absence. His NAME represents His person, His position, His seating, and His authority! “If you ask (demand) anything in my name, I will do it” (John 14:14). Jesus’ name will accomplish everything that He can without Him personally being present! “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do will he do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to the Father” (John 14:12). His name is above every name! Every demon force must bow to the name JESUS! (See Philippians 2:9-11).
Ok, let’s make this practical now, and bring these truths down into daily life and put “shoe leather” on them. Every time you or your family are attacked with sickness, disease, or physical weakness of any kind, rise up in the NAME OF JESUS and command Satan to take his hands off of you or your family member! You have been given AUTHORITY that is far greater than your natural strength.
To do nothing about it, or to whine and complain about how bad things are will only give Satan control over you! That would be like the police officer laying down in the street and crying because a vehicle refused to obey his instructions! He has to enforce the law and sometimes that means forcing people to submit to what they know is right! Satan is the same way. If you lie down and do nothing when attacked, He will dominate you. That’s what most believers do today!
When confronted with financial lack, oppression, depression, fear, weakness, failure, or anything else that steals, kills, and destroys, RISE UP IN THE NAME OF JESUS AND COMMAND SATAN’S POWER TO BE BROKEN OVER YOUR LIFE AND FAMILY! No one has more authority in your life and family than you do!
I personally “take charge” of my life spiritually each morning by submitting myself afresh to Jesus’ Lordship over me, and then I command Satan and his forces to BACK OFF and leave my family and church alone in the NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!
Don’t wait until a crisis arises. ASSERT YOUR RIGHTS AND PRIVILEDGES IN CHRIST JESUS AGAINST SATAN TODAY AND SEND HIM ON THE RUN, BEFORE HE TRIES TO HINDER YOUR LIFE OR YOUR FAMILY! Remember that we overcome by “the blood of the Lamb,” and by the “word of our testimony,”(Rev. 12:11) and by the use of the Name of Jesus. Because of Jesus, we are already made “more than conquerors”(Romans 8:37)!
